Jonesing for endorphines: Goat Rock Beach

Like a moth to the flame, I fluttered back to the Pacific Ocean in hopes of finding a glamorous viewpoint on the otherwise gloomy situation of my injured tendon.  My once dreamy images of 20 plus mile runs in bucolic Sonoma County have been replaced by stoic walks in the frigid waters of Goat Rock Beach while I ponder the risk of frost bite.

After a bit of sleuthing and serendipity (in other words~I got lost), I found a beach without the need for a downhill climb to access the water just as the sun was setting.  Goat Rock Beach happily obliged.   There is likely a rock here that looks like a goat but my feet were turning a dramatic shade of red so I hastened back to the car.

My initial quest was Salt Point State Park where PCTR (Pacific Coast Trail Runs http://www.pctrailruns.com/) hosts a race in late August.   Recent state budget cuts have forced PCTR to reconsider but if you become a fan on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pleasant-Hill-CA/Pacific-Coast-Trail-Runs/49437971550), cast your vote for reinstatement of the run because it looks spectacular.

My tendon did feel significantly better for the rest of the day but let’s face it, this isn’t running.    Frozen feet are fun but I am jonesing for endorphins.
