What do you do when you win the grand prize of your running club raffle, even when the grand prize is the entry fee for a race you don’t really want to run?   When you signed up for the New York Marathon, and actually got in, but decided not to go because you just didn’t quite feel ready to tackle the full?   When this race is an ultra and on the other side of the country in an amusement park and you don’t have kids and your primary interest in Disneyland is as a cultural phenomenon?

Well if you are me (and I am) you start thinking that you just might try, because humm, well maybe, so you book your frequent flyer ticket to Orlando, talk it up with your running friends, don’t tell your non-running friends (for sure they’ll think you are crazy), pull out your calendar, start obsessing about your running schedule, buy a sporty new headband and you run and run and run some more.
