Am I ready for Disney? I honestly have no idea but i do know that I am a lot closer than I used to be. One of the many things that I love about running is how you can teach your body to do things that you never dreamed it was capable of doing and there is no refuting it. This week I ran 10 miles Friday before running 20 on Saturday, and yet here i am, injury free. Crazy. How is that possible?
I ran slow, super slow, as slow as I could go. I set Pandora on something with a beat and then by concentrating on the words and ruminating on my life over and over as ruminating loves to go, suddenly and mysteriously my four hours was done. I went home, drank lots of water and was amazed that i didn’t feel worse, a lot worse. Maybe I even felt good. Maybe, then again maybe not.
Oh yes, there are shoe issues as I am in the unenviable position of needing to break in new shoes with only five weeks to go. But you know what, I just might be able to run the Disney Challenge and survive and that is some kind of incredible.
